Which one would you take and why? I think I'd take an old ETC. It's a damn handsome vehicle, and with that 300hp Northstar it's no slouch either.
I consider it to be the last "real" Cadillac, new ones are all about the gadgets and the tech rather than comfort like a proper American luxury car should be.

To be honest I don't understand the question.

Obvious answer is obvious

I would definitely take that Cadilac-ac-ac-ac-ac-ac over this Chevy (probably pronounced Chebby).

What Cadillac, new or old, would you want to own?
![]() 01/02/2014 at 21:22 |

I'd take an old edalrado.

The title was a reference to an old Billy Joel song.

I'm not old enough (or sophisticated enough) to catch the reference. I'm so sorry. The CTS-Vsport is a pretty close second. I'd gladly have one over a 5-Series/A6/E-Class.

I was always disappointed they were front wheel drive. Loved this design, but thought it would have been better suited as the next gen Caprice instead of the jelly bean.
My choice would be a late 60's early 70's Deville.

A friend's dad's last car. The family still has it, It has several systems that require expensive service, but nothing a BMW owner wouldn't cringe at after a few years of ownership. The ETC pictured, that is. Realized my description covers about all Caddys :)

A Caddy over a German car???
A guy with 'stig' in his name just broke out in assholes and shit himself to death...

A new ATS. Why not get the latest and greatest?
![]() 01/02/2014 at 21:37 |

I would buy a new caddy (almost any of them) over the old in a heart beat, but if I had to choose pre CTS, I would go with the XLR-V. They has such presence.
Sidenote: I borrowed an SLS for my prom, and my date will tell you I was way more excited about that car than about her.

Since I can't afford a CTS-V wagon, I'll take a late 60's-early 70's Caddy wagon like this 1970 Fleetwood.

Sucks for him! But , I'd rather have a Jaguar XF then a CTS, 100%.

And if he can't drive
With a broken back
At least he can polish the fenders .

This is a question I consider on a regular basis. In the next year or two I'd like to trade in my Cruze, and I'm strongly tempted to pick up an ATS. I want the 2.0 Turbo with the manual. It comes with Brembo brakes, LSD, everything I need and nothing I don't.

And look...he shit himself AGAIN... :)

That's how you do it. I borrowed my dad's 96 Impala SS for my prom. My date, my best friend, and his date, were all sick of the loud rock music and burnouts/powerslides about 5 minutes into the trip.

Nice timing, since I'm lately really missing the Cadillac I traded in when I had my one-third-life crisis.
I'd go with any Eldorado except the 71-78 and 86-91. Especially an '85 in dark blue, with a white leather interior and white padded top.......

Simple, thinking of trading in my Vette on a CTS-V.
But you oughta know by now...

Number one reason to buy it. Almost embarrassed to admit that it's one of my favorite pieces of (relatively) modern car design, but it's just so well done.

It's like a well tailored suit. Not beautiful, not striking, just extraordinarily nice looking.

If you're going the land yacht route, its gotta be this one:
My buddies at Cadillac let me sit in it and play with the doors and CUE stereo - talk about getting back to the days of old Luxury Sedans!!!!!!
![]() 01/03/2014 at 03:21 |

O.K., you tricked me into showing my age. First, I don't own a Chebby. But I do currently own these:
1968 Eldorado hardtop - body is crap, but I've restored the interior and engine (too gross to show)
1978 Coupe De Ville - long range floating land yacht
1996 Eldorado ESC - Former award winning show car, now daily beater (I've tried both the ETC and ESC and the ESC is more plush and with a few tweaks is just as fast)
2006 XLR-V - currently my "Race Car"
And before you start, I may be old, but I'm not timid (must be the fighter pilot in me). It pulls 1.03Gs sideways, 0-60 in under 4, and will do over 186MPH (I still had 1400RPM left before redline) in a straight line. Raced on several PDX road courses across the USA, Land Speed Racing and autocross setting records and winning trophies far and wide. So don't go there...
The one I really want though is the elusive 1959 convertible. Drool....
Oh the fins...........

AAAAHH! People who think like me! Yay! I have a 2000 SLS, and I love it. It's more comfortable than new cars, and I don't see new car manufacturers going back to 60-series tires any time soon.
